InfiniTeam

The InfiniTeam is a program that includes everything that black belt team offers, but also offers the chance for students to learn martial arts in ways that no other school offers or teaches. It allows students to combine gymnastics, weapons training and much more to develop what is known as Extreme Martial Arts or Sport Karate. For instance, at blue and red belt we begin adding more spinning techniques such as spin wheel and tornado kick. You will never go inverted or spin more than 360 degrees. In InfiniTeam, however, we will take a spin wheel to a jump spin wheel to a 720 spin wheel. Or a tornado kick to a 540kick and a “jack knife.” (tornado with an extra kick before you land). Once you go beyond 360 or go inverted it becomes extreme.

Basics are the most important tool to any martial art. Most of our forms are traditional forms and are designed to perfect the basics. Much of the bo work we do will stem from basics striking and spinning patterns. When students are ready to take anything to the next level, Mr. Welch will show you how it is done. (He also decides who is ready for the next level) InfiniTeam shows students how to take their basics to the next level of intensity, technique, speed, power, focus and control. Anything learned in InfiniTeam is not required to know in order to promote to the next belt. It is all extra credit, and material to play and have fun with.

Curriculum includes:

  • Basic Gymnastics training: including cartwheels, round offs, hand springs, aerials.
  • Advanced kicking/tricks including butterfly kick, kick trick, 540, 720, flash kick, etc.
  • Creative/Dynamic hand combinations.
  • Advanced fight choreography.
  • Bo staff: basic to advanced striking and spinning patterns, traditional combinations/form, creative combination/performance and stage presence: how to be comfortable in front of an audience while performing or speaking.

Benefits of InfiniTeam

  • Coordination: The definition of a weapon is “an extension of your body.” Punching and kicking requires much focus, balance and physical conditioning. In order to properly execute st rikes, combos, throws and other drills with a weapon, your hand/eye coordination especially increases.
  • Living the Dream: Many kids see their instructors, other black belts and people on T.V. doing all sorts of acrobatic maneuvers and working with extreme weapons and wish that could be them. This team allows the student to become that person in a fun and safe environment. Our curriculum also allows students to build slowly and work at their own pace.
  • Only Here: Mr. Welch has an extensive background in weapons, competition and extreme martial arts. He has been a part of the sport for a long time and has helped develop it and helped it grow into what it is today. He is one of the only few in that state that is not only able to do the “tricks and kicks” but also how to break them down, and teach students how to successfully learn the same “tricks and kicks”.
  • Confidence: Confidence is the biggest benefit to martial arts. Students are going to learn how to face their fears and challenge themselves; How to be comfortable in front of any size crowd; and How to take on any new challenges and be ready to overcome them.
  • To learn a new weapon, dance step or language is very difficult in the beginning. It can sometimes be frustrating. But watch when your child throws and successfully completes a butterfly kick, a spinning combination with the bo, and begins to really understand how their body works, and that if they stay focused and committed to something that anything is possible. You will see a smile from ear to ear, and you will see them begin to walk taller.
